Studio Safety

Staff Credentials

1

Bloodborne Pathogen Certification

Industry specific training is required for all team members and certifications are renewed on an annual basis.

Our team is trained in preventative methods to reduce risk of cross contamination and exposure to blood borne pathogens in the studio.

This training also covers sterilization practices, disinfection, instrument reprocessing, needle safety/disposal and epidemiology.

2

First Aid and CPR Certification

Everyone responds differently (physically and mentally) to receiving a body piercing.

We take pride in being ready and able to keep you safe during your body art procedure.

Members of our team attend first aid and CPR training bi-annually and required to maintain valid certifications.

3

Piercing Technique Coursework

Our team participates in both online and in-person advanced training seminars often including attending the annual Association of Professional Piercing conference.

These trainings explore anatomical studies, appropriate jewelry materials, piercing placement, advanced techniques, bedside manner, piercing curation, jewelry materials and other relevant subjects.

Sterilization

All items used in piercings, jewelry installs and tool processing are sterilized before use and monitored by chemical monitoring test strip; passing results are shown to each client before the procedure.

To protect clients and staff from infection we use the best of the best when it comes to autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners. These high tech sterilizers have built in technology that digitally records cycle information and notify us when maintenance is required.

Biological integrators, or spore tests, are the most accepted means of monitoring sterilization because they assess the sterilization process directly by killing known highly resistant microorganisms (e.g., Geobacillus or Bacillus species). However, because spore tests are only done bi-weekly and the results are usually not obtained immediately, so additional chemical monitoring is also performed.

Cleanliness + Disinfection

In general, surfaces and items in the studio’s lobby and bathroom are cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis. All surfaces and items in piercing rooms and sterilization areas are disinfected in between clients with hospital grade disinfectants.

Handling Jewelry

In the spirit of cleanliness we ask you to refrain from touching jewelry displays as well as your own piercings and jewelry while in the studio.

Hopsital Grade Disinfectants

EPA registered Tuberculocidal disinfectants are vital to our cleaning protocols.

!!!NERD ALERT!!!

Our disinfecting wipes are the worlds fastest one step disinfectant, killing HIV, HBV, Tuberculosis, COVID-19 and more in less than one minute, DANG! They are also 100% biodegradable and are produced in a LEED certified facility. They are aldehyde and phenol free (common disinfectant ingredients known to be carcinogenic) making their use safer for staff and clients.

Single-use Items

Wherever possible we use single use disposable items to reduce the risk of cross contamination. Non-disposable tools are reprocessed by disinfection, cleaning with a medical grade ultrasonic unit, and steam sterilizing in an autoclave.
